KAGOSHIMA

“The Island Life of Kagoshima.”

Kagoshima prefecture is in the southernmost tip of Kyushu Island and includes some strings of islands extending towards Taiwan. It is home to various active volcanoes like the Sakurajima whose frequent eruptions are visible from the main city. In one of its many islands, Yakushima, is a forest with trees said to date as far back as 7,000 years old.
